Dearest friends and neighbors,
We at VIII Nothing are proud to present the ‘News’ page. It will serve as the continuous heartbeat of this collaborative project, a pulse you can press your stethoscope to, a reminder that we haven’t jumped off any bridges yet (or at least, if we did, we survived).
Over the next few weeks, your humble doomsday-poets will be traveling to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. We are going because we want a taste of what it is we wish to feel every day in a year or so. That is to say, we’ll be scoping out the future of VIII Nothing (and of our lives, more or less).
We’ll be cavorting with neurotic strangers and tossing ideas across coffee tables and bar stools, breaking bread with hitchhikers and yodel-scream musicians and motorcycle repair men. Leaning hard on our dreams to see if the foundation is firm. That’s right, the castle in the sky is under construction, and it’s about time we put some weight on it. Amorphous ideas into hard lingual substance—that will be our trade.
Listen: Our goal is to start a publishing company, potentially based in California. That’s the plan so far. So to go to San Francisco/Oakland is to seek out a future home for ourselves and our endeavors. If it feels right, that’s where we’ll go.
We’ll check in real soon, folks. Work hard and rest easy.
